Job Description

We are seeking Residence Counselors for our residential programs in Manhattan and Bronx locations for all shifts (day, evening and overnight).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible to assist consumers to develop Activities of Daily Living Skills (ADLs) such as general apartment maintenance, shopping, traveling, taking medication, symptom management, personal hygiene, money management, self-advocacy, utilizing community resources and other areas as appropriate. Provide timely documentation of restorative services and/or weekly progress notes and weekly site visit reports as applicable. Escort clients to outside appointments to obtain benefits, medical, mental, dental healthcare appointments when necessary and assist consumers with shopping. Manage crisis within the residential setting utilizing recognized crisis intervention strategies, participate in fire drills and appropriate incident reporting. Supervise medication administration of all residents and maintain appropriate documentation in accordance with medication policy. Documentation of services provided. Participate in supervision, staff meetings, agency meetings, in-service and all trainings as required. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalency. Minimum 1 year experience in a social service setting, community center and/or security position. Knowledge of mental health issues.   Basic computer skills and competency in written and verbal communications.  Ability to work in a team, recognize the need for confidentiality of information and to maintain a secure safe residential environment.  Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
